When using traveler’s checks, be sure to cash them prior to eating out or shopping. Even though many places do accept these checks, often times it can be a complicated mess. If you use them, you may find that you get shorted, so convert them to local currency before you shop.
If you want to quickly adjust to another time zone, you should aim to keep yourself awake until around 8pm local time. Though you may be exhausted, succumbing to sleep earlier than you should may end up making your jet lag worse because you have not allowed your body to recalibrate. Your jet lag will end more quickly if you immerse yourself in the current time zone.

Take some bottled water along on your journey if you are traveling abroad. Drinking water in foreign countries is usually not purified and can make you very ill. Bottled water is important even for tooth brushing purposes. Tap water can still make you sick this way.
